RES DIGITAL RESOURCES
Follett Destiny enables you to do an online search to see if we have what you need in the RES library resources. You can find out if we have the resource you need 24/7 – anywhere you have access to the internet! GREAT resource to use when you are planning a unit and need to know if we have a particular book or not!
If you place a hold on the item, the software automatically sends me an email and I can pull it and get it to you.
A feature of the online catalog that I would like to use is entering the books you love to use for your units as "Collections" for a particular study. If you have lists of these, I could put them together and then you would be able to find them in the future by accessing that collection – like the “WWII” list of our resources I have already put together - and pull up all the resources you used on that list.
You may also search the resources available in ANY OTHER SCHOOL in Franklin County by changing your search option to "Franklin County". If there are resources that you need from another library in Franklin County, we can contact them and borrow them for you.
Galileo – this is a subscription to resources for research that is paid for and supplied by the State of Georgia. Log in is not necessary when you are onsite at schools or public libraries, but if you want to use this at home you will need a password. Different passwords give access to different levels of information for elementary, middle, high, and college level patrons. Passwords are supplied to librarians so that vendors may track usage and are changed each quarter.

One of the databases provided us by Galileo is NovelList K-8 accessed here: http://www.galileo.usg.edu/high-school/franklin-k12/databases/n/
This database has a wealth of information about books, authors, series, and read-alikes to help with matching readers with the books they love to read.
NovelList K-8 Plus focuses on nonfiction and has the same types of aids.
While you are looking at these databases, you might discover others that you could use for primary source research like the Native American Documents database that provides primary source documents and images from the Southeastern Native American peoples, or the Civil War collections of materials.

Set up a new account – log in to search for, download, and then show video to enhance curriculum content. Streaming from this site takes up a lot of bandwidth, to be sure you get it when you need it you may download video to your desktop, save on a flash drive or external hard drive, or save it in a DiscoveryEd folder. Video files do take up a lot of storage room, so the best option is flash drive, or external hard drive if possible.
The Discovery Education site also includes places to store your content, make folders for each standard, etc., and has blackline masters, teachers guides, and lesson plans available. Storing these in a folder keeps them organized on the site for you, but it is still optimal to download video to show it rather than streaming from the site.
ebooks are available on an RES owned website
